Indonesian Army Print A Record in AARM, Outperforming the Nine ASEAN Countries

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Army contingent to achieve the best achievement in the history of the ASEAN Armed Forces Armed Forces or The ASEAN Armies Rifle Meet (AARM) 2017 in Singapore on 14 November to 23 November 2017 ago.

They managed to break the record with the acquisition of 9 trophies, 31 gold, 10 silver and 10 bronze. No wonder if they excel among the 9 other countries and become the overall champion.

Meanwhile, Indonesia's strongest rival, the Thai Army Team is ranked second with three trophies, 7 gold, 12 silver and 6 bronze.

The third rank is occupied by the Philippines with 1 trophy, 3 gold, 8 silver and 7 bronze.

The fourth position is occupied host Singapore with the acquisition of 2 gold, 9 silver and 13 bronze.

"Thailand's most powerful rival since the first AARM," said Nur Wahyudi.

In the annual competition, 6 soldiers won the Champion Individual, namely Lettu inf Safrin Sihombing (Kopassus) for Pistol Putra category, Praka Zulkarnaen Amirullah (Kodam II / Sriwijaya) for Karaben category, Sertu Woli Hamzan (Kostrad) for the Senapan category, Sertu Carlelis Manusama (Kodam XVI / Pattimura) for Pistol Putri and Serka Priyanta and Sertu Hari Mulyono (Kopassus) categories for Automatic Gun / Machine Gun.

AARM 2017 followed by 10 ASEAN countries namely Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Myanmar, Laos, Brunei and Timor Leste.

The competition that was held every year since 1991 comprised 5 categories: Rifle, Karaben, Pistol Putra and Putri and automatic Rifle (machine gun).

Recorded to date Indonesia became the country's most common champion 12 times.

Indonesia first won the general title in 1992 when the second AARM held in Indonesia. In 2004 when the race was again held in Indonesia, the soldiers of the army who competed, managed to gain the status of the overall champion. The status of the new general champion returned to Indonesian hands in 2006 in Thailand.

In 2008 until 2014, the Indonesian contingent successfully defended the status of the overall champion. In 2015 the status of the overall champion was captured by Thailand, which is the organizer of AARM 2015. In the year 2016 and then this year, the Indonesian contingent again won the overall champion status.
